Michelle Williams: Introverted in Hollywood
By Dr. Jane Greer
Celebrity stars shine so bright and we look up to them. Yet often we are puzzled when they fall, so Shrink Wrap is here to shed light on all.
Lovebirds Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are popping up in public together more and more these days. While initially flying under the radar, the two have been dating now for at least three months. Segel has been described as completely “smitten” and sources say the three time Oscar nominee, Williams, has “never been happier.” The two are sometimes reported as being an “unlikely” couple but a closer look reveals they may in fact be cut from the same cloth.
At a recent afterparty for the premiere of Segel’s new film The Five Year Engagement, the couple was spotted exhibiting all the tell tale signs of of being “head over heels” – holding hands, gazing into each others eyes, even tenderly brushing hair behind the others ear. Yet despite the high profile PDA, they cleverly avoided being photographed together and left a in separate cars. While the jig is up from the public’s point of view, the couple still insists on taking it slow. And they like it that way.
Neither Jason nor Michelle have made a habit of rushing into things. Both have a sparse dating history by Hollywood standards. Williams’s love life is best known for her three year romance with Brokeback Mountain co-star Heath Ledger. The two had a child in 2005, Matilda Rose, and amicably split before Ledger died suddenly in 2007. Since then, she briefly dated Spike Jonze, but that relationship ended within a year.
Segel, former star of the TV cult classic Freaks and Geeks dated his co-star Linda Cardellini for years after the show was cancelled. But that ended around 2003 and he has been reportedly single ever since. He told Parade magazine, “I don’t want to have a girlfriend for the sake of having a girlfriend. I have no desire to pick a random girl, I want the right girl. There are plenty of opportunities, but I’d rather have the right one.”
Let’s hope these quiet creatives have finally met their match.
